2023-2024 CEO Commendations

We were proud to be able to recognise the achievements of those staff nominated by colleagues for a CEO commendation because they have gone over and above what was expected of them to improve the lives of those around them, whether that is the pupils or a colleague.

Thirza Dod, HLTA atHenley - She does amazing work with her ELSA work and the progress the children she works with makes is incredible. On top of that, she always goes above and beyond to find and share new strategies to help the children she works with in class. She also helps in her own time running the library and the reading scheme across both schools within the Greenfields Hub and she also runs the library at Henley. She is constantly supporting both Helmingham and Henley, even though she is solely based at Henley. She even takes time to write certificates to those children at Helmingham she has heard of making progress in areas she understands are a struggle for them. She is an asset to our team and we are super lucky to have her. I couldn't sing her praises enough.

Phil Carr, Caretaker at Glebeland -  He goes above and beyond professionalism in creating an amazing and purposeful environment for our future EYFS class. He has organised the clearing of the room, repainted, placed boards, removed rubbish, fixed and painted fences and relocated furniture to create a wonderful clear class and outdoor space in a short period of time. It really has transformed the space.
His attitude to making it perfect for our children and staff to use has impressed us all as he has gone above and beyond, including cleaning the area when our cleaner was off sick. It is a pleasure to have Phil working at Glebeland.

Sam Brebner, Teacher at Riverwalk's Green Road site - It has been an absolute privilege to work with Sam and her team.  Sam leads with such integrity, compassion and absolute dedication to what is right in supporting and developing the children in her care.  She is an absolute gem to have on your staff.

Mrs Williams, Winterton (Jemima Williams' mum) - Knitting fish for the fish tank every week which has changed attendance.

John Barlow, ICT Teacher, Henley - John has worked in the Greenfields Hub for many years (at Henley for more than 12) He was roped in to listen to readers when his children were here, then he became a TA to cover a long term illness and then his ICT skills were recognised and he became the ICT teacher but also helped everyone with their computer issues. He organises the sound systems for plays and sports days and celebrations in the church. He often comes into school in his own time to sort out internet issues and was very supportive with the move to 365. He also goes on most of the residentials when a man is needed!  He is an amazing man who will do anything for anyone and has gone the extra mile for many years.

Amber Symonds, Office Manager, Middleton - Amber is the glue that unites Middleton into the happy, caring setting it is.  She always goes that ‘extra mile’ to ensure that the pupils get the very best and quite frankly she is a ‘little gem’.

Shirley Fisher, Cook at St Edmund's - Going above and beyond every day with making sure all children have something they will eat. For giving up a different job to run our breakfast club and knowing every child by name and asking them how they are and noticing if they are upset or worried and taking time to make sure every child is ok and happy. And for always being a ray of sunshine and brightening up our school.

Jenny Cockrill, Warren School - A long-standing member of staff who always goes above and beyond for her students - skilled in all of their medical needs, as well as providing an excellent learning experience in PMLD. On top of this, she keeps the Warren Association running, having raised funds for the amazing school playground and a minibus (amongst other things). This year celebrated 40 years of the Warren Association and staff, students old and new and parents came together in a splendidly neon display of 80s outfits. We are all aware that the association would not have reached 40 years without the determination and dedication of Jenny and her team. Warren school is grateful for Jenny every single day.

Jenny Sandaman, Warren School - Jenny took on the role of Post-16 and OCR lead last Summer and spent the majority of her Summer holiday ensuring working on OCR. There were folders of students' work and OCR observations that dated back some time, which had not been collated and hence the students had not been accredited for their hard work. Her level of commitment to putting this right took an enormous amount of her own time. As a result of this, students have received beautiful glossy certificates and are able to celebrate their success. Some of the students were able to attend a certificate giving day with their parents, and the pride and joy on their faces was because of Jenny. As a school, we are now confident that students will share in that same joy each year because Jenny took the time to ensure it happens. Celebrating success is important for everyone and hopefully a CEO commendation will be one opportunity for Jenny to celebrate hers.

John & Jenny Downes, Volunteers, Winterton - For the past 20 years, John and Jenny have dedicated their time, energy, and unwavering commitment to our school as volunteers, making a profound impact on our students, staff, and the community. They have provided invaluable assistance in the classroom, supporting teachers and helping students with their reading. Their patience and kindness have helped countless children improve their academic performance and develop a love for reading. They have been instrumental in organising and supervising various extracurricular activities, including the Friends Fayres and always being our Father Christmas. Their exceptional organisational skills and creativity have ensured the success of these events, raising significant funds and boosting school spirit.  Their volunteer work extends beyond the school, as they actively engage with the wider community, building strong relationships and fostering a spirit of collaboration. Their efforts have helped bridge gaps between the school and local organisations, enhancing community ties.

Steph Taylor, Riverwalk -  Steph did a fab training session for some of the mainstream staff so that we could be trained in Makaton on Monday in spite of the pressures in writing their new curriculum too!
She was fab and made us all feel at ease.  In my schools in particular, we have more complex children coming into reception, and it was great to be able to give teachers and support staff the training in enough time to plan for transition.

All staff nominated have been invited to this year's CEO's Garden Party at the Trust Office.
