Nursery Provision - our commitment to Early Childhood Education
A large number of Trust schools have Nursery and Reception classes providing education for Pre-Nursery children who are 2 – 3 years old, and Nursery children who are 3 -4 years old. These classes are integrated into our primary schools, providing a seamless educational experience from nursery through to primary education.
Our Early Years Centre of Excellence at Kirkley Nursery, Lowestoft also offers day care for children from 6 months old to 4 years old, 50 weeks a year.
Nursery settings across Consortium Trust value the four principles of the early years foundation stage which are embedded throughout learning every day:
Unique Child: Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships: Every child is taught respect of themselves, their peers and staff.
Enabling Environments: Offering children the opportunity to learn through exploration, enquiry and expression.
Learning and Development: Providing the best outcomes for our pupils across the seven areas of EYFS, which include prime and specific areas.
At Consortium Trust we teach the Early years seven areas of learning and development. Although all of the areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected the prime areas a paticulary important for learning and forming relationships. They build a foundation for children to thrive and provide the basis for learning in all areas.
These are the prime areas:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
Alongside we also teach the four specific areas, which help strengthen and develop the three prime areas, and ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm.
The specific areas are:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Alongside our commitment to the development of the whole child, we believe that parents are a child's first and most important teachers. We work closely with families to ensure that children receive consistent support and encouragement both at home and in our nursery.
Together, let's build a strong foundation for your child's future.
